A Guide to Hertfordshire

Ideally positioned with Radlett Train Station on the doorstep, you can visit Central London, Watford or St. Albans in less than 25 minutes.  Explore our local area and take a stroll through ancient Roman ruins, or visit the world famous Harry Potter World.

Harry Potter World

Just a few miles away from our hotel is the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio, which is a fun day out for all (even if you’re not a huge Harry Potter fan!) as you get a brilliant insight into how the films were made.

Visit the real Great Hall, see the costumes the cast wore and have a go at flying your own magical broomstick.

St. Albans Cathedral

The cathedral dominates the city’s skyline from every approach.  With architecture that blends many different periods, including Roman bricks salvaged from the ruins of Verulamium, the cathedral continues to attract pilgrims from far and wide.

Verulamium Museum

An award-winning museum, displaying beautiful objects from the ancient Roman city of Verulamium. Spend the day immersing yourself in the best preserved Roman artifacts in Britain, watching re-enactments of Roman life and seeing real equipment of the Roman army.

St. Alban’s Street Market

Steeped in history, with a special Royal Charter granted in 1553, this market is documented as far back as the 9th century.  In the city centre, running the length of St. Peter’s Street, this market is the best place around to get fresh fruit and veg, interesting street food and quirky souvenirs.

Roman Theatre

Just a short walk from the Verulamium Museum is the Roman Theatre, which is the only visible example in Britain. It was used for armed combat, wild beast shows and theatre performances and is an interesting day out for budding historians!
